1. Scope and Purpose

This specification defines standards for automotive LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensors used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicles. It covers performance requirements, safety standards, interface protocols, environmental specifications, and testing methodologies for LiDAR systems operating in the 905nm and 1550nm wavelength bands.

3. Safety and Regulatory Compliance

3.1 Laser Safety

Requirement: All automotive LiDAR systems SHALL comply with IEC 60825-1:2014 laser safety standard.

  3. Intensity Calibration: Normalize intensity values across reflectivity range (10%-90%)
  4. Functional Test: Verify all interfaces, protocols, and modes operate correctly
  5. Environmental Pre-screening: Temperature soak test at -40°C and +85°C
